A man’s best friend, our trusty sidekicks, and our fur-babies, we’re a nation of dog-lovers and it’s no different here in Leicester city. If you’re heading out with your furry friend and wondering where you can confidently bring them along to, look no further, as there are some great Dog-Friendly Independents in Leicester who’ll welcome your pup with open arms, a fresh bowl of water and maybe even a little tasty treat or two.
Cafes
Leicester Coffee House
Based in a historic building on Granby Street, Leicester Coffee House provides in-house roasted coffee and homemade cakes and more importantly, is home to Tommo the dog, Head of Customer Service. It’s the perfect pit-stop for a cup of coffee and something sweet, and, who knows, maybe your dog will find a new best friend in Tommo. His hidden talent is his Freddy Mercury impression, and if you’re lucky I’m sure he’ll do a verse or two.
Orso
Orso is an independent coffee shop and eatery inspired by Australia & Bali. From 10am-3:30pm they serve up deliciously fresh food with a menu that changes weekly so you’ll never get bored.
While you’re there don’t forget to say hello to Beau, their resident K-9 and head of pup-lick relations.
If you’re having a bad day Beau is a fantastic listener and will always be more than happy to hang out with you until you have cheered up.
Bread & Honey
This quaint little café is located on King Street and is a gorgeous hidden gem serving freshly baked treats from raspberry loafs, lemon cruffins to the chicest almond croissants that deserve to be posted on your Insta story.
All dogs are welcome and you can be assured that they will be treated like royalty by the fantastic staff there, as they often keep doggy treats behind the counter!
La Forêt Café
Also located on King Street you’ll find La Floret Café. Inspired by a fusion of flavours from across the world they serve a fantastic range of classics with a twist.
Make sure to pop by to try their Deluxe Avo Toast topped with scrambled eggs, homemade hummus, Tunisian Harissa paste, grilled sweet vine tomatoes, garnished with black olives, parsley and basil oil! How amazing does that sound.
Four legged friends are more then welcome to enjoy a water bowl while relaxing in the beautiful surroundings.
Bryter Moon Deli
Where coffee and fairy lights collide. Located in the Silver Arcade, Bryter Moon Deli have a fantastic selection of coffees, teas, craft beers and delicious food to enjoy in a gorgeous, calming environment.
No pup gets left out at Bryter Moon Deli where your 4 legged friend can enjoy a puppucino while you treat yourself to a slice of freshly baked deliciousness.

St Martins Coffee Shop
If you haven’t been to St Martin’s Coffee Shop and you live in Leicester, where have you been! Serving specialty coffee and delicious food, this dog friendly café is a must.
Grays Coffee Shop & Kitchen
Located in the city’s cultural quatre you’ll find the LCB Depot, home to Grays Coffee shop & Kitchen. They are serving up fresh, seasonal, exciting food from Jerk Chicken Souls Bowls, Samosa Toasties and Beef Madras Burritos all in this gorgeous dog-friendly environment.
Prana Café
For our vegan furry friends Prana Café is the pawfect place to enjoy a sweet treat on a Sunny afternoon in the city. Why try their delicious 100% vegan afternoon tea or if you’re feeling a little adventurous the plant-based kebab is sure to cure those hunger cravings.
James Café Bistro
This quirky little bistro is based on Bond Street and is the ideal pitstop when you’re exploring the city with all paws.

Saints of Mokha
Legend has it that Mokha in Yemen became the first city to export coffee worldwide, hence the name. Established in 2016, Saints of Mokha is a young, independent coffee roaster right here in Leicester. Serving up delicious coffee you won’t get anywhere else. Why not treat yourself to their famous Red Velvet Latte while your pup enjoys taking in the atmosphere.

Queen of Bradgate
A craft beer & cask ale house on the High Street with traditional pub dining, cocktail bar, live music and ping pong, the Queen of Bradgate is proud to always be dog friendly and will happily provide you with a fresh drink for them to enjoy while you’re sipping on your choice of beverage, whether it’s a 241 cocktail at happy hour or a morning cuppa.
The Exchange
In the heart of the Cultural Quarter, The Exchange stands tall as a relaxed, airy and friendly space for those mid-day meetings, after work drinks and light lunches. Dogs are welcome, so pop in for a water bowl and tipple du jour, as you watch the hustle and bustle of the city go by.
The Parcel Yard
If you’re taking a trip in or out of the city via Leicester Railway Station or on your way back into town from a walk in Victoria Park, head to The Parcel Yard to spend some quality time with your pooch. Well behaved dogs are welcome and water bowls and complimentary dog treats are available in the bar and garden areas, as with all Steamin’ Billy pubs.
The Tree

King Richard III
A cosy historic city centre pub, bring your dog along to marvel at this gorgeous period feature building while you work your way through their large selection of lagers, ciders and real ales. Your furry friend is allowed outside and inside, apart from the back room/restaurant. Water bowls and treats are provided to keep them satisfied.
The Globe
The Globe has been synonymous with serving fine ales and food since 1720 and that’s not all, they are proud to be a dog friendly pub. Welcome in the bar area downstairs or their outdoor seating, they’ll also happily provide water bowls and complimentary dog treats.
The Distillery
Whether it is great beer, delicious cocktails, scrumptious food or a place to just kick back and watch the match; The Distillery is the place to be and an added, important bonus, dogs are welcome too. Where possible they’ll try and seat you in an area away from too much noise so you and your pooch can relax.
