Or are you an early career producer of musical theatre or music in the Midlands and want to find out more about opportunities, and meet some like-minded individuals? If your answer to any of these questions is ‘yes’, then we’d love to invite you to a free networking and information event hosted by Musical Theatre Network, China Plate and Curve. We will share some industry insights, signpost relevant opportunities, and give you the chance to meet other producers/future producers, and discuss what would help you achieve your ambitions in this area. Join Director and Dramaturg Andy Routledge for ‘Talking to the Audience’ – a workshop exploring the bold, playful, and intimate possibilities of looking audiences in the eye. We’ll explore the unique relationship between performer and audience, covering approaches to autobiographical storytelling, character-driven monologues, and the rich territory where the two overlap. You’ll develop practical tools for enhancing the performer-audience relationship and creative ways these can be adapted to suit your story. This practical workshop is for theatre-makers, storytellers, performers, directors and writers who want to explore breaking the fourth wall and deepen their understanding and confidence directly addressing audiences.
